Our culture has an amazing disrespect for our elders, and it's heartbreaking that they have been forgotten and overlooked in the name of progress. These families have no idea what they're missing out on, and so many of them won't even have the chance to realize it until it's too late.

Brendon Hudgins @ MedCare PediatricBrendon Hudginshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03230472642369183882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-856115860459514900.post-51739427689105759672015-11-04T13:32:45.892-06:002015-11-04T13:32:45.892-06:00Beautiful words. Even when his mind was confused he always had a smile for me.I'm glad I spent those many hours with him,now all I have is memories of both my parents.Ruth Hieberthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11260132564992492524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-856115860459514900.post-57557177427851869462015-11-04T08:49:36.307-06:002015-11-04T08:49:36.307-06:00Shug, you have such a beautiful heart - this post ...Shug, you have such a beautiful heart - this post just touched me so! You're exactly right about those folks at nursing homes. My mother in law, even when she could no longer speak, LOVED when my husband (and I not quite as often) would go see her. She would only put her hand on Tony's cheek and just gaze at him, her only son. When she could no longer do that, Tony would pick up her hand and hold it to his cheek and just sit with her. My husband was amazing. His mom was in the Alz unit for about 5 years, nursing home for several before that. He was so faithful to go see her every day or every other day until the day she died. He taught me so much - he visited with lots of the folks that didn't have family that would come see them. He still goes to visit some of them. Love is a decision. Bless you and your husband for loving these folks in your life!!! Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story!Vickiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07741431727993692456noreply@blogger.com
