Sunday Morning News..

We had a Chilly Day here in East Texas yesterday and the basketball gym was so cold. My hands felt like they were freezing.  I needed gloves!!! ๐Ÿงค๐Ÿฅถ

Never fear...I am warm this morning...I can feel the heat coming from the fireplace and I am wrapped up in a blanket while enjoying a hot cup of coffee.

I love a warm cozy home!!!

Our son-in-law (Ty) works in California, but he came home this weekend and he put up my outdoor Christmas lights for me.  This is big!!
My lights are custom fit for the roof line of the house and they fit together like a puzzle.  Ty knows exactly how they go....plus, he is strong enough to get up on top of the roof to install them.

I will not be turning on these outside lights until after Thanksgiving.  ๐Ÿฆƒ

Sad news:  Ty and Trista had to have their Australian Shepherd (TAZ) put to sleep on Friday.  He had cancer and was barely eating....had lost so much weight....and this was the most humane thing for them to do for him.  I may be guessing wrong, but I believe he was about 10 years old.  ๐Ÿ˜ข

As I finish my coffee this morning, I am reminded that each new day is a gift.  Not something owed, but a day that is lovingly handed to us by a God who never tires of giving us second chances.  Whether the week behind has been heavy or filled with happiness, today offers a gentle rest.

This morning, I am simply thankful.  Thankful for the calm, for the peace in knowing that I don't have to have everything figured out.  I know God keeps showing up....steady and faithful....even when I find myself too busy to notice.

Today...I will be attending Church with my Brother and his wife.  Their service today is a candle lighting service in memory of a loss loved one who has passed away during these past 12 months. We will be lighting a candle for my youngest brother (Joe) who passed away on Christmas Day last year.  ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ’”

While today's post may seem to be touched with sadness, it truly isn't. Life has a way of whispering to our hearts how precious every moment is.  Loved ones pass away, pets grow old and leave paw prints on our hearts, and the seasons change faster than we would like.  But even in those tender moments, there is comfort because... The Good News is....God never leaves us.

His love reaches into every place that feels empty and fills it with peace.  The ache of missing someone is real, but so is the promise that love doesn't end...it simply changes form. It lingers in memories and in the laughter that forever echos in our hearts.

Hoping that for each of you, your Sunday wraps you in peace.

Shug...

*Yesterday was one of those days that Sam felt bad all day long.  I wish there was something I could do for him on days like this.  He is still sleeping, but I am praying he feels much better today.

  1. I just said a prayer for Sam. My heart aches when we can't help our loved ones and make things better.
It's wonderful that your son could put the outside lights on for you. It sounds like a major job plus its special that he could be there for you...HUgs for that sweet pup of your sons too. It definitely has left paw prints on the family's hearts.
Now its off to church for us too.

  2. You have a gem of a son-in-law in Ty! All Saint's Day is the time to treasure our memories of loved ones passed and honor them. Sad? It can be, but it's also comforting to know they are with the Lord. Blessings, Shug!

  5. I continue to pray for Sam. The waiting is hard for me, so I can't imagine you. I hope you show us the Christmas lights the first time you turn them on. I am also drinking coffee, and wearing a sweater! Did you get many Trick-Or-Treaters?

    1. Ginny.... I had only one trickR' treater this year and it was Mylee. Our churches in the area had a combined event on Thursday night, so there were not any trick R' Treaters out for Halloween. Thank you for the prayers.

  8. The photo on your blog header is absolutely beautiful. I don’t know if it’s your home, or simply what you’d like it to be. Either way, as I read your blog, I can pretend we are sitting on that white couch at the end of the porch, sipping something autumn-appropriate and having a good visit.

Like you, I keep Christmas decor packed up until Thanksgiving is enjoyed with respect and gratitude (and good food!).

Sorry to see the passing of your granddog. That is very hard for all. I am also sorry to read about the passing last Christmas of one of your brothers.

The events of recent years are teaching me, as the Lord is teaching you, that thankfulness for today and whatever the Lord permits is okay. He is trustworthy even in the most uncertain of times. As you said, every moment is precious.

Thank you for your wisdom. What a wonderful post today so filled with hope. Even amongst the sadness of our losses of loved ones; we live in trust and love and hope in our Lord.

Thank you Shug. Truly wonderful post.

God bless you and your family.

  11. Hello, my lovely friend. As I was reading your words here today, I felt so thankful we met here. Your posts reflect so much of what I feel in my heart, and they way you share and express them make me feel validated. Does that make any sense? I caught up on your blog, and I am thrilled you put up your tree! I agree with everything you said, and as soon as I get my corner dusted, I will join you. There is something about those lights on the dark evenings, isn't there? Please know of my prayers for Sam, as well as you. Hugs.

  12. Continued prayers for Sam and a few for Ty and his wife. It's never easy saying goodbye to a furry loved one.
The lights from your Christmas tree in the background look so pretty.
