Backyard Happenings.....

My Backyard squirrel....."Earl Jr." is doing his best to "HOG"
all of the sunflower seeds that I put out for the Red Birds.

This stinker must have eaten all day and all night, because he emptied this feeder in just two days!

I watched him a good bit of the time and I can tell you that he was a determined fella.   The next week, I moved the feeder to the side of our driveway and hung it on a plant rack.   Again, he found a way to get to the curved rack, and he emptied the feeder.

This is the first year that my variegated hydrangea has bloomed.   Not sure what this one is called...but it really is pretty.

My backyard "knockout Roses" have produced a lot of gorgeous roses this year....   With this Texas heat, I hope I can keep them alive....

If any of you are wondering about "Earl Senior"......well that's another story for another time.....

Earl Jr......might need to keep his distance from grandson #2.....Tucker!!!!

hugs,
Shug.......

  1. You are a better person than I am. I will NOT feed the squirrels. In fact, I don't like them at all ---and have NEVER taken one single picture of either a squirrel or chipmunk.... (I know---I BE BAD.)

BUT--I don't have money in my budget to feed them. We trap them and take them about 5 miles south of here to a new home in the woods.... Maybe that is what happened to your Earl SR..... ha

    Betsy

  2. I always chuckle at Squirrel antics. I actually leave food out for them.

  4. That hydrangea is certainly unusual. Remember when there was only one kind? There are some beautiful varieties out there now like yours. I have one of the old one which finally decided to begin blooming again this year. The cut ones last a long time in a vase.
The Midwest hot weather is rivaling what I put up with for 40 years in Texas.
Squirrels....they are what they are! :D

  5. OH, you have such pretty lights strung up! Great squirrel pictures! Seems at one meal, they can eat enough to feed a hundred birds! We finally had to buy a squirrel proof bird feeder. Works like a charm. And saves money on seeds.

  6. I understand with Earl Jr! We have squirrels, chipmunks, deer, coyote, raccoons, possums and on and on in ours. Bill hung the bird feeds out of the way and the squirrels can't get into it. Your flowers are gorgeous, I've never heard of a variegated hydrangea, in fact ours here aren't blooming this summer, too much shade now evidently. Roses are beautiful and love the lights!
