Good Friends make Life Sweet....

Don't you just love days when you have something exciting ahead of you?  Today has been one of those days.

Plans were made several weeks ago.....and how wonderful it was to spend time with some of our Best Friends.

These best friends that I'm speaking of, consist of five of mine and Sam's High School classmates from the class of 1971.

Sam and I graduated together...so we have the same wonderful friends.

All seven of us have been great friends for a very long time and we all try to get together (along with spouses)....at least five or six times a year.  As often as we can!!!

We always have a Fabulous time!!

Great friends make life sweet...

Enough is Enough

This past weekend was a time of celebration.

Our baby girl....Miss Mylee Jo....was celebrating her 7th birthday!

Not only was Mylee Jo celebrating....but she shared her party with one of her Best Friends...Magi Mae!

I'm guessing that there were about 20 of their friends at the party and it was definitely a Blast.

They jumped and climbed....over and over again!

I was hoping to sneak in a jump or two for myself....but the bounce houses were completely covered up by a bunch of sweet kiddos.

The next morning....Mylee had a basketball game to play.  She did score...and here smile was super contagious!!  After all..it's a big thing for a 7 year old to make a basket and score 2 points for their team!!!

Later that afternoon....Mylee attended another birthday party for another friend of hers.  ANOTHER PARTY??

We had a family party for her on Sat. night at "Tuscan Slice"....  Earlier in the week, she made the statement that she sure would like to have a "Surprise" Birthday Party.

Well....we did surprise her.  She had NO clue that we would all be there.   Mylee had a great time...rolling out her own pizza dough and placing all the goodies on it, before the pizza was sent off to be cooked.

Perhaps...all of this excitement was a little too much.   By the time her pizza came out of the oven and was placed in front of her at the table...She had become a bit irritable!

I think she may have taken two bites of her pizza and then she was ready to go HOME!  Not before....the waiters came out to deliver her a cake and sing "Happy Birthday."

Needless to say....She had had ENOUGH!!

Mylee Jo was tired of celebrating and was ready for bed!!

Can't say I blame her...
Enough is Enough.

Enjoy your day...

Faithful Supporters....

Good Monday Morning!!  The sun is shining here in Chandler Texas....   It is a bit cool outside, but the sunshine sure brightens the day.

My Mother and Father in law were awarded
the "Lifetime Achievement Award"....this past week, at the Chandler Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

I am so proud of them and I am extremely proud of their dedication to our city.

My Sam.....had the honor of presenting this award to his parents....

I would like to share his message with you all.

Most recipients of this award are the people who stand
in the forefront of all the things that are happening.  The
deeds and the task that they undertake are noticed and
usually awarded at various times.   However, The
recipients of this  award tonight, fit into another
category  known as “ Faithful supporters”……
They are people who have Faithfully Supported the
the churches  of our community……the businesses of our community and  the people of our Community…….for a
Lifetime!
The recipients are graduates of CHS and have lived in the
community, for most all of their lives.
If I had to pick a word that best describes them……..it
would be GENEROUS.    They have generously given so
much of their  time and Resources to, God’s Open Hands,
to the church, to the ministry of helping sick children,  to
Missions and to organizations, aimed at doing good for
the people of our community.   They generously give when they see a need.
They have served in numerous capacities over the years,
on Various committees, clubs, Boards…..both at church
and school and Have been supporters of the community
even in the toughest of Times.
Tonight's  recipients,  remember the old cotton gin,  the
tomato sheds, and  the FULL service gas stations……..in
other words, the GOOD OL’DAYS!!  They worked to build a "75 year old  Company" that is still in business
today.
I urge the now generation to take time to learn from  the
“Greatest generation!”     These are the folks that
survived world wars, the depression, and now have had
to tolerate moving into the age of technology.   I would
encourage each of you to take time to listen to their
stories  and to learn how they made it through those
times……so that you can share with your children and
grandchildren, how to remain constant when the hard
times of life come along.
Let  the older generation share History with you.
Chandler has  a Great History and we are now Blessed by
having The Chandler Museum  that can now pass along
the past,… to the future generations of people.
I think I would like to finish up here, by describing the
recipients as not only generous, but  WISE  as well.   Their
wisdom sometimes amazes me.  When I was a teenager,
these recipients were “dumb as a rock..!!”  ……… But,
through my aging years….I have come to realize that they
were THEN and they are NOW…..the smartest and wisest
people I know.
So……tonight it is an honor and a privilege to present
S.A. and Edith Billie Pollard, My Parents…….the
“LIFETIME APPRECIATION AWARD”
From the community of Chandler and the Chandler Chamber of Commerce.

Such an Honor......for these two WONDERFUL people...

Never Too Old to Learn.....

We are never too old to learn new things...

Take for instance, TODAY!  I learned something new!

I have NEVER been a swearer....as a matter of fact, I despise the use of bad language.  It is my personal belief that swearing is a big reflection of a person's weak character.

Even that four letter word that begins with a S and ends with a T.   I hear people say that this particular word is definitely NOT a cuss word.....because it happens!!

I'm not buying that!!  It is so easy for us all to make excuses for the bad behaviors we want to continue having...  So, nope...I don't buy that excuse at all.

How does "Learning something new each day" and "Swearing" have any connection?

As many of you may have noticed in some of my past post.... I have used the word OMGoodness when describing excitement about something.

Since I am not one that has the need to use bad language, I never....thought of using this in the terms of "Oh My God."

As I learned today in our Sunday School class...the OMG word strongly offends others.  (Glad that my initials are not OMG} Just a funny spoken here!!

It offends me as well when the words are spoken as "OH MY GOD" in an irreverent way.

Perhaps, someone uses this phrase as such...
"I will extol thee... O....My God..."

This is Praising God.

My point here today is that there are a lot of different meanings for words, slang words and abbreviations.  It is important for us {ME}to use caution when expressing myself in ways that could be controversial or hurtful to others.

No more OMG letters spoken here.

Have a fun day friends...
