A Bit of History.....

Shame on me.....this fence is situated on a piece of land that is the home of a "Historical Marker."

Why shame on me?  Because this Historical Marker is located about 5 miles from our home, and I have never ever visited it.  I have no clue what the "Historic" properties are, surrounding this old log cabin.

Sam and I had a good friend (who is now deceased) But....he loved Historical Markers.  Sam and I took a trip one time, with Jimmy and his wife.  I will never forget this trip.  We must have driven ever bit of 125 miles that day, going from Chandler to Texarkana....

A trip that should have taken us about 2 and 1/2 hours at the MOST, took us 4 hours to get there.

The reason?  Because, Jimmy loved to stop at Historical Markers....and he DID stop at EVERY ONE OF THEM!

Jimmy was a hoot and he loved
History.

I'm guessing that I need to stop....someday....and see what this old Historical Marker is about!  I'll let you all know!!

I'm joining Good Fences today.

Hugs to all....

Shug ~

  3. Hey, Shug...your friend and his interest in historical stuff reminded me of my hubby when he still had his 35mm camera. When we were driving along Hwy 1 in California, we had to stop to take a picture, then we would have to change the film. You definitely need to go see what is in this place!

  4. This is a lovely cabin, and the tall red fence makes it very noticeable. I wonder if it is occupied? I would love to go in and look around.

  5. Oh, I wish that place were mine. I think a lot of us don't stop and absorb things that are close to home. There are one or two markers around here that we have never stopped at and that is sad in a way.

  9. You always come up with great fences.

When we lived in Santa Barbara years ago, people would tell me after a while you will never to to the beach.....NOT so. I was at that beach every day. Hauled the kids down after school, nursed my baby under my sweat shirt after I dropped the older ones off at school. I miss the beach.

  14. Love the cabin, surrounded by this fence. I understand how you can not know what the marker says. We drive by one all the time and thanks to this post we must stop next time and see what kind of history it refers to!

    Blessings,
    Gert
