Catkins are wreaking havoc

The trees are all leafed out.....the flowers in East Texas are beautiful.....and the tassels on the Pecan trees are falling everywhere.

I have been sneezing and my eyes are itching like crazy!!
I'm not the only one that is suffering from allergies.....lots of folks around here are having scratchy throats and watering eyes.

                                                                                      {Borrowed Photo}

These little tassels {catkins} can really wreak havoc to the eyes of those who are allergic to them.

Just so happens that we have a huge pecan tree in our yard, which means that we have thousands of these little tassels all around.   With the wind blowing like it has today, you can see clouds of yellow pollen flying through the air.

Just this morning, I was talking to some of my high school classmates and we were reminiscing about some of the old songs from the late sixties and early seventies.

The one that I thought of went something like this:  "Sunshine, blue skies, please go away...........I know to you it might sound strange, But I WISH IT WOULD RAIN"

Oh how I wish it would rain and perhaps some of this pollen would go away!!

Do any of you remember who wrote this old song??

Rain is scheduled to make it's way to East Texas.....on Thursday.   Hopefully it will, and hopefully it will wash this stuff away!!

Local honey DOES work.....but here's the deal.   I only like honey if I'm eating a sopaipilla.   Does this mean that I should eat one every morning for breakfast?  I hope so!!

Smart Thinking......Chairs...

Welcome to Shug's Place!

I simply love decorating.....Decorating makes me happy and content!

                                                                                   Borrowed Photo....

Chairs can add a lot of character to any table or room!

I fell in love with these chairs, so I am now on a mad hunt to find the exact chairs that I want......so I can PAINT them in bright colors.

OMGoodness.....be still my tender heart!  Aren't they adorable?  A friend of mine used these at a recent luncheon that I attended.   I wanted to bring these chairs home with me.

can you see the turquoise chair that is peeking from behind the centerpiece?  It is such a beautiful color!!

This gorgeous orange chair caught my eye in a hurry!!
I could so use this one in my house......

Simply adorable!!

Now....let me give you a tip for making chair covers!!

Another friend of mine was very clever in making her chair covers for this same luncheon....

You know.....these days, chair covers can really cost a whole lot of money, and when you have 8 to 10 chairs to cover, the total cost can add up quickly.

My friend Kathy, made a trip to "Garden Ridge Pottery" and purchased two shower curtains.  She cut them into strips of 4 and ...wa..la...she had instant chair covers.   She added a little two sided tape to the sides in order to keep them from slipping.

Here is another one......

Isn't this clever??

Join me later this week for more decorating tips!!

Sweet Blessings,

Tickle me Pink....    I have a full day ahead! This comes as a result of too much running around last week.

Our hardwood floors are screaming out at me......CLEAN ME!  Dust bunnies are taking over, everywhere!!  My favorite coffee cup is still sitting in the sink.

and yes...I can barely contain all of my excitement for all the the hard work that this day holds.

I was a tad bit lazy this weekend....which is totally unlike me.

Here are a few photos of the ladies luncheon that was held at our church this past Sat.   I decorated two tables and had so much fun doing so....

The extra table that I put together because we were short a table....

Great centerpiece on this table.....Boxes that were painted and wrapped with ribbon....made to look like a big cake!

Isn't this cute!!  lots of work!

The little girls loved this table {decorated by my friend, Christa}

A lego table!!!  so unique!!

My second table.......Bird theme going on here.

Shanda Kay......love this precious daughter of ours!!

Trista Dawn.....I took a sneak picture of her....

For the Love of the game and more!!

Sad news.......The Bears did not win!!  The Bears led the game, 3 to 1.....for the first 5 innings and then, a bad inning allowed Springhill to get ahead.   Ending score was 5 to 3.

Let me share a few of the photos from Tyler's  Last High School Game......

Trying to get rid of the nerve bug....before the game

scoping out the opponents....

Best "Shortstop" I've ever seen!!!

Batting.....

Headed to second base....

Seniors.....after the game.

Loved this picture.....Seniors walking back to dugout.

Hugging Mom......

Hugging dad....with mom crying in the background

Hugging Pops.....

I got a big hug too.....not only from Tyler, but from all of the Senior guys!!

After the game, I sent Tyler a message that read...

"Tyler, I remember your very first little ballgame when you were barely big enough to hold the bat...
I thought you were awesome then, and I cried tears of happiness.   Tonight, I watched you play your very last game and you were {and still are} totally Awesome!!
You're a Superstar in my eyes.
And guess what?  I cried again!
I love you so very much."

I shortly received a text from Tyler....

It read:   "Awe Shug, if you go and look in your bathroom, you will see a picture that I drew for you when I was in the first grade.  I said I love it when YOU take me to my ballgames.  I said I love you so much.    I love you, and I thank you for the support you have always given me.....heart, heart, heart."

These are the things that make being a grandmother so special.....

Shug....~

For those of you who have asked about Tori.....she is feeling much better!   Still having to put drops in her ear and still wearing cotton in her ear.   Thanks for all your prayers!!
