Blog the Blog

Good Monday morning.....It is extremely foggy here!  Way too foggy to be outdoors.

Believe me.....I have PLENTY to do inside today!!  I won't go there though.

Ok.....so, I was visiting with Sam the other day about my blog.  Who of us are not looking for an honest answer when we ask our spouse a question?

like...I'm always asking Sam..."Do you think I look better with longer hair, or should I cut it?"

His answer is ALWAYS...."Whatever makes you happy!"   NO....this is not the answer that I want to hear!  I want the TRUTH about what he really thinks!!

I think you get my point here.  So, back to the Blog conversation.   I ask him {Sam} if he had read my blog and he answered yes.  I then ask what he thought about it.....His answer was definitely an honest answer!!

His reply was:  "I think you write very well, BUT.....I believe that you need to find some different topics!"  WHAT????

I need to explore a bit more!!

Hey...what is it that they always say?  If you don't want to know the truth...then don't ask!

He informed me that I needed to find topics away from FAMILY.
I think that his exact words were..
"Readers probably get tired of hearing about your family."

Hmmmmmm......I went back and reviewed several of my post and YEP...he is right!!  I need to veer away from family topics.

I need to get back to my inspirational writings and I need to include points that interest others.

I need to learn to Blog the Blog!!!!

I need to do some research and then I need to take more of an initiative in delivering material which is interesting to read.

We are having Spring Break around here, so I think I'll take a week off from blogging and hopefully, when I come back.....I'll be able to bring some new writing material (and photos) to my blog!

I am truly thankful for Sam's honest answer.....The best writer's all have critics!!

No....he is NEVER critical of anything I do...Sam is my biggest FAN in all phases of my life...
He is truly the BEST and I love him for this honest answer....

Enjoy your Blessings today and every other day as well

  1. Shug, first of all, I love reading about family. It's the most important job we have on this earth in the time the Lord allows us here. So,Please don't stop writing about them entirely. It's the little things in life that make us smile and get through our days.
    (((HUGS to YOU and YOURS)))

  2. Haha, I applaud Sam's honesty, but I have to say, I do not tire of hearing about your family. We have a dysfunctional one, so it always uplifts me to know that healthy family relationships DO exist. Whatever you you decide to write about, I'm sure it will be fun and interesting!

  6. I'm just the opposite than Laurie M when it comes to HAIR. I think women over 50 should never wear their hair very long. My good friend's hubby likes long hair --so she wears hers long... It makes her look 15 years older. Don't think I have ever seen a woman over 50 with long hair (not talking about medium length --but LONG) that looks good on her... I wear mine really short --and love it. BUT--I like the wear you wear yours (which I consider medium)....

About blogging, your hubby is right. Blogs do get boring when one writes about the same thing over and over (such as their pets/their china/barns, etc.).. BUT--we all write about OUR lives. I write about our hiking and traveling ALOT. BUT--I try to vary my posts when I can... Taint easy though... Good Luck.

By the way, I love your family --and the love that you and Sam have for all of them. Inspiring!
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  8. Oh, gotta love these Hubby's. I say write about whatever you want to. I've always just written about life and I participate in memes and find they give me great direction. You might enjoy memes as well. Enjoy your week away!

  9. just wanted to share with you, Shug, that the sunflower by my barn was well over 20 ft. tall. It is amazing isn't it. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by...loved it.

  10. My husband is like yours; he never criticizes my choice of hairstyle and compliments me kindly. Consider yourself lucky, as I've heard many a critical man lay his opinions unkindly on his wife in the vice of being honest.
Your blog is yours. We like comments, but our blogs are really about us to us. Our families are the most precious, though I sometimes question the reality of putting us all out there, as there are some real weirdos around and I've heard of them stealing photos and info.
I enjoy your travel comments and photos, and you are one of my main sources for Texas 'schtuff.' :D

  11. I love your blog and I think you are lucky that your husband reads it. No one in my family ever looks at mine! :) I think we all have these same bouts of blog-doubt...do I need to stay away from this subject or that? I've taken down posts that I have written on a particularly gripey day, when I am whining a tad too much. But it's all me- and yours is all you. And I think that is what blogging is all about..sharing pieces of our lives with others.
I'm in limbo on the hair issue..I feel like I need to cut it off because of my age, but my heart says I will regret it. I'm at medium now and will probably stay there for a few more years. My mom always says that hair color is what makes you look younger or older...I agree. Dark ages me.

  14. First of all, I love that comic! Second, that's sweet that your hubby reads your blog and that you listened to his advice-that's a great relationship!
I think you should blog about what makes you happy :)
    Have a great spring break!
