I love Squirrels...

I would love to find a T-shirt, just like the little ornament above....

I would give it to my
Father-in-law!!

Get this......he has caught 62 squirrels this year, in his yard!!
They are eating up the pecan crop...

He has been catching them in a squirrel trap and has been taking them across town to a wooded area, to let them loose...

His thoughts are..."how can there possibly be 62 or more squirrels to find their way to this particular yard"...He is almost positive that the little boogers are making their way back across town, across a major highway...right into his backyard.

My mother-in-law came up with this great idea.....If he sprayed a portion of their tails with some spray paint, they would be able to tell if the squirrels were coming back....

Is this funny or what???

Well guess what....one came back and it had a RED TAIL!!

These squirrels are not dumb...they know exactly where their jack pot of pecans is located...

I just wonder how many times he has caught the same squirrels over and over again!!!!

I'm not sure what his next plans are going to be....these squirrels
just might be willing to travel for miles and miles to make it back to these good ol' pecans...

Happy Day...
Shug

  1. I find this to be a funny and really interesting story. I am so glad he takes the time to transport them and does not harm them. So give him this message for me. One of my best friends does the same thing. BUT, they will find their way back if it is under 25 miles away. It doesn't matter where you take them, it has to be over 25 miles away.

  2. Hi Shug!

I love squirrels too! I have a big fat squirrel that eats my bird food . . . so I just buy more . . . the kind he likes... ;0)

I love that they spray painted the tails, and that they came back, too funny!

  3. That's hilarious! Poor guy! I know squirrels can be a real pain, but they can be funny too. You know we have a handicapped squirrel we've been feeding for over a year now and I'm quite attached to him. But if they were eating my income I might get a little more agressive. He is a kind man!

  9. I LOVE squirrels! I've done a lot of wildlife rescue. When people call the trappers most of the time the trappers do kill the animals even though they may say they won't...sad! Your father-n-law must have the BEST pecans around! It's very kind of him to take the time to carry them away. Unless he feeds them a lot of unsalted peanuts they will continue to eat the pecans. Hubby and I just started a family screen printing business. We don't have any squirrel t-shirts yet. :)
    Have a great day Shug!
