Early Morning Shopping..

Have you....ever tried to make a quick morning trip to the grocery store, in hopes that you won't run into ANYONE you know....???

This is the kind of trip that I never like to make...
But....it happens!  We sometimes have to make a trip to the store, before having time to put our face on....

My plans are always, to run in, grab the milk or bread or whatever else it is, that I so desperately need, and get out of there as fast as I can...  Ooops, almost forgot....Pay for it and then get out of there...

This happened to me yesterday morning, with only a few hurdles in my way.....

My day started out something like this....
Woke up....jumped out of bed....had some super nappy hair, because I did not take the necessary time to shampoo it the night before....

Tucker was already at my house....he has strep throat and he needed to stay home with me....
Trista called....Tori was not feeling well either.
This means that I now have two sick grandkids at our house...plus Mylee Jo!

Guess what?  No milk...no bread....NOTHING in this house for a breakfast meal!  (I know...hard to believe that I didn't have something.)  I certainly did not have anything that the kids wanted to eat.

I headed out to the store....made my way in....and was heading down the milk isle...
I noticed this guy that passed me, and in just a few minutes, he passed me again...(On the same isle)
I just kept shopping, and then I look up and there he is again...pretending to be looking at something!  At this point, I'm thinking....This guy looks familiar...I recognized him as someone that I should know....I immediately turned and tried to head in the other direction.

Suddenly, I hear this voice calling my name...

My first thoughts are "oh crud"....I don't know who this person is.  I DON'T KNOW his NAME!!! ....and my second thought was
OMGoodness...I don't have on any make-up, my hair is a terrible mess, and I am dressed in the most horrific outfit ever....
Oh Lord...what am I going to do???

Well...I stood there, in all my humiliation and carried on a conversation with someone that I haven't seen in over 30 years.  I was as nervous as a cat, surrounded by 2 pit bulls.  Had I not looked like a trash mama, I would have admitted to the truth, that I couldn't remember his name.

Who was it????

I STILL DO NOT KNOW!!

I think I need to give myself a new morning wake up time!
Up at 5:00 ......hair done, make-up on and ready for whatever the day brings...
and perhaps I need to put out the YEAR BOOKS and do some studying....

I'll chalk it all up, to not being prepared.....and to this thing they call AGING!!

Hugs y'all...

  3. I haven't needed anything yet bad enough to go out unless it was to go through the drive through. Then I can hide behind big sunglasses, although it is dangerous to use those in the dark!
You're so funny. I've reached that stage where I see someone and I know I know them but can't just then remember how or where. It usually comes to me during the conversation!

  4. Oh honey, I've donned the sunglasses and tucked my ponytail through a baseball hat just to drive into town to pick up Farm Boy.

I tell him I'll come...if nobody sees me. Make~up...I don't leave home without it!!!

Bless your heart...I bet ya melted right on the spot!

Have yourself a terrific day sweetie and God bless ya!!! :o)

  6. Well, it made for a funny story! God is more interested in our inner than our outer, anyway. It was a test of your character to stand there and carry on such a long conversation. I would have pretended not to hear him and fled the scene. LOL

  7. So funny! We are the same! Whenever I run to the store and am all dressed up, no one is there. When I have on my slippers, bad hair, top all stained and wrinkled, I will run into four people I know!!! And the older we get, the more we run into people who come up to us and we don't know who they are. We are getting quite good at conversing for quite awhile about the old days without knowing who we are talking to!!

  8. Oh, this is too funny to read, but not to experience. Yes, yes, I've had this happen, this is a small town. I generally seldom walk out the door without make-up but always get caught when I don't. No problem with a friend here from way back when---high school, etc. since I am from Louisville. So I feel your pain, Shug and study up on that year book, girl! Bet you'll figure out who he was... Hugs...

  9. Hi Shug, I guess I'm just THAT much older than you... I used to wear make-up and always tried to look my best no matter where I was going

These days, I'm just happy to be alive, and seldom wear make-up or worry about things like that anymore. I guess I just figure that if they don't like me for who I am now, that I don't want to talk to them at all...

Like I said, I guess it's age... I'm much more secure with myself these days ---and just love LIFE and love being ME... Take me or leave me!!!! ha
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  10. Oh dear, I know exactly what you mean! Just the other day the door bell rang and ordinarily I wouldn't have answered it under the circumstances, but in this case the caller knew I was home that day. I hadn't bothered to put on a bra...I hate wearing them and don't, if I'm just staying in!...and my hair was winging out in all directions. No makeup. I looked perfectly horrible. Well, one of the renters from next door decided to bring over his rent check when he usually doesn't, we pick it up. Anyway, I opened the door and tried to hide the best I could...just stuck half my head out and my hand for the check. Said "hi, how ya doing and thank you" as fast as I could and shut the door! I'm sure he got a good laugh out of that one. But I didn't think it was so funny. Plus, I look all washed out if I don't have my mascara on, so I probably would have put on my sunglasses if I'd thought about it. He'd have thought I was really weird! Ha!

  12. Hahahahaha! I LOVE the fact that you still have no idea who it is, lol! And you *know* we've all been there.

One morning I was wearing a raggedy old t-shirt and old sweats (with a HOLE in the bottom, thank you very much).

I hadn't washed my hair yet and went outside to take out the garbage when I heard my name called.

My neighbor goes to our church, and his brother was visiting and he wanted him to "meet the pastor's wife" and there I was, all raggedy looking with dirty hair and a hole in the seat of my pants. Good times, lol!
