Living in the city is not all that it is cracked up to be....Sure, it takes me about 10 minutes to run (well, drive) to the local grocery store...and this includes buying a dozen eggs,  and ....making my way home!!

The only rooster that we get to wake up to, is the crowing of a ring tone on the cell phone.

Now, I ask you....Is this fun?

I don't think so!!

...I want to be able to hear that annoying "Cock-a-doodle-do" from a real rooster....
The kind of crowing that makes your eyes pop open in the wee early morning hours.

And how about some Hens!!  Those sweet little girly-girls that lay the best of best eggs.

Looks like this is as close as I will come to being able to have some frilly ladies, sitting on the roost.

Every day, it seems like I hear of someone else getting some new chickens and rooster.  This is wonderful!  I love the thought of going back to raising our own chickens and having fresh eggs.  Chickens and eggs, that are not so full of all sorts of hormones.

For now...I guess I'll just have to enjoy the
cute little chicks that I have sitting on my Window Seal.

I do have to admit....they're pretty cute!

Maybe it's time for me to consider running for
a public office...It's time to get back to owning your own land....even if it is in the city!!

I'm not talking about bringing in a heard of cattle...just a chicken or two and a rooster!

Our grandson (Tucker) was telling me the other day that we need to move to the farm...My response was:  "What about my kitchen?  I just re-modeled it."  He said:  "Look at it like this Shug....No more re-modeling...When you live in a tent, you can buy a new Coleman stove any time you want one...and you can probably choose your color!!"

Good point Tuck!!

Hope you all have a Super Blessed Day!

  2. I think you did two posts today? You changed your header, always beautiful!! And I must tell you I was just wild about that soft blue rose...till I noticed it was a cabbage!! But just as pretty as a rose. Your hens are very plump and cute...guess they wouldn't allow you just a few hens out back? After a whole day at the doctors, you cooked a whole big meal like that??? I can't even cook that much if I do nothing else!

  6. backyardchickens.com. Go there and research. Lots of folks are changing the city ordinances. Really like a barking dog is not annoying but they are everywhere. But oh if a rooster crows that would be awful??? Crazy.

  7. I like your cute chicks, Shug! I love roosters and hens and have a few decorating my kitchen. It would be nice to have some real ones for the fresh eggs. It's funny, but hubby and I were just talking about how my mother and his grandmother raised chickens back in the day and how we missed the fresh tasting eggs!
Loved your g'sons thoughts about living in a tent! Too cute!
    Have a wonderful day!

  10. It is definitly that time of year when everyone that can, is getting a new peeps! I would miss hearing my roosters if I moved to town, and the fresh eggs. But our nearest city does allow up to 10 hens for backyard chicken keeping. No Roosters. Too Noisy. And yes, it would have to be in covenant free neighborhoods. Are they fighting this battle in your town? Many cities are fighting for that personal right to keep chickens.
I do love your pretty Rooster and Hens that you keep for decorations. They are pretty cute!
    Enjoy your re-modeled kitchen!
    Blessings,
    Susie
