I Need Help.....Now.

Elementary.....Yes, all this computer stuff is elementary work for most of you, but for me....it is definitely challenging to say the least!

As a matter of fact, I am STRESSED with all the new changes taking place everywhere.......

First it was blogger....then it was picnik....and who knows what else. I have learned so much since I have been blogging, but I am now beginning to believe that I can't keep up with it all!

I changed to firefox and will honestly say that it's ok, but for a person like me, I need it to be better than ok! Now picnik is changing and this really messes things up for me! How am I gonna change my header pictures!

Yes, I know this does sound elementary to most of you, but right now I just don't have all the extra time it takes for long drawn out computer lessons...Besides, I'm a visual learner, and definitely not one that learns by reading things.

So...in order for me to keep up with this blog, I NEED HELP with the following questions.....I also need help with simple stuff (P-llllleeeeeaaaassssseee)

1. photo editing.....what is the next easiest place for me to go to edit my photos and to make cute things for my blog...How do I put a header together? Picnik was so easy and I need simple directions.

2. FREE sites......I need some sites that allow you to grab some cute and unusual
buttons. Christian sites...fun sites....interesting sites.

3. Links......This is something I know very little about! What happens if I want to participate in a party? For example: On Sunday's, there are some really cute parties with many different topics. What if I want to join two or three different parties. How do I get the post that relates to that party to go to their link without having to post it on my blog that day.....(say I have an old post about barns and want to join a barn party, can I post without having to have that come up as my post for the day?)

4. How do you make your own button? sounds so simple when I read directions, but I just can't get it to work.

5. How do you add cute little red hearts and other cute symbols on your post?

SEE.....I TOLD YOU THAT I REALLY AM NOT VERY COMPUTER SAVVY! IT ALMOST SOUNDS AS IF I AM A NEW BLOGGER, BUT WITH OVER 750 POST, I WOULDN'T SAY THAT I'M NEW...I JUST HAVE BEEN BLESSED BY MANY FRIENDS THAT HAVE HELPED AND ALSO BY HAVING THE USE OF SIMPLE PLACES TO GO.

DON'T GET ME WRONG....IT'S NOT THAT I WANT YOU ALL TO DO MY HOMEWORK FOR ME....I JUST NEED YOU TO HELP ME UNDERSTAND...

I WOULD BE WILLING TO BET THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY BLOGGER OUT HERE THAT HAS WANTED TO ASK A LOT OF THESE QUESTIONS FOR A VERY LONG TIME NOW.......IF ANY OF YOU HAVE THE ANSWERS YOU CAN EMAIL ME AT: sapco5@earthlink.net or leave me a comment!

Thanks for all your help

Shug

Well the links thing is easy, so I can help with that. All you have to do is go to whatever post you did no matter how old, bring that post up on your dashboard then right click on the title of the post and then click "copy shortcut". then just publish the post and it will be right back like it was. Go to the blog post that you want to add a link to, follow their directions for linking. When it asks for your url, just past what you just copied off of your post and then finish with your title, http or whatever else they ask for. That's it.

I havn't used Firefox, I use Google Chrome. It is free and all of the blogs load so much faster and I don't get any white pages or problems any more.

There are several great tutorials for how to make a button. Just do a google search and you will find several.

Read the post today by Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch. She did a whole post on different photo editing places. Great info.

As far as adding all the cute little hearts and things that you see, I don't know where all they come from, but they do slow down your load time for people to view your posts. That's why I don't use them at all.

As far as making mosaics for your Header. You can do them really easy with Mosaic Maker @ Big Huge Labs. Really easy, that's what I use. Good luck, hope some of this helps.

Hugs, Marty

Oh, gosh! I have been blogging a long time now, but I don't know how to do any of this stuff, either!!! I don't go anywhere to edit my pics, just do it in my computer picture file. I don't even know how to use Picnic or an editing program! I have never used a button, or had a party, or added all those little cute things to my blog! I just use a photo in my computer for my header, and don't usually edit it or anything. I do have Firefox now, though. And I still have I.E. for a backup, so I can use either. But I know that at least one of your followers should be able to help you, I hope so!

Many Thanks and thank you Marty for all the info. My thoughts were, if I don't ask, I'll never know. Help from any of my friends is greatly appreciated.

I'm with you Shug and not at all embarrassed to say, I just don't get some of this nor do I have the time to sit and tinker with it. It would take me days to figure it out. You already have so much more than I ever will...I would win the 'could care less about an award' award...lol
You're a whole lot smarter on here than I ever will be. Research can take a lot of time, but you will figure it out. I know all I have to do is to ask one of the GrandLoves....ha!

Gosh, Shug, can't really help on this one, but looks like you're off to a good start with Marty's suggestions. I use Photoshop for all my editing, but it is NOT easy to learn. I did my button once and now I don't remember how I did it. But you can probably Google and find out how.

I use Google Chrome and highly recommend it.

Mainly stopped by to let you know that I'm thinking of you today!

Glad you asked because I have many of the same questions. I'm glad to read Marty's advice. Is picnik the same as picassa? See? I'm more ignorant than you are.

So sorry I'm behind on my reading!
There is a site called fotoflexer that is like picnic, not as good, but still able to do lots and you could make your header there. Hang in there my friend, I was sad to see the picnic announcement too, but you're not alone, we'll figure this out together! (I realize that if we all lived in Texas it would be so much easier!)
Have a wonderful day!!
