Focus and Balance

But more than anything else, put God's work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well.....
Matthew 6:33

I am usually not a very happy camper when I put my  life is in a state of disaray.  I am actually a challenge to myself at times.  It's kinda like I experience these stages of self induced (ADD) every now and then....

I put myself on some kind of wild roller coaster ride that does not stop and it offers no place to jump off.  In other words, I find it difficult to say No and therefore, I end up with several intense projects going on at the same time... Loop D' Loop, at an overwhelming speed...
( Oh yes, I have several going on right now )

Do I have any company here?  Do any of you challenge yourself like I do?

At times like these, I have to stop....reassess my choices....sleep on things...and Pray.

I like for my life to be delightful not only to me, but to others as well...I do not want my profession of being a people pleasing person, to take away the simple pleasures of my own life.

It is best if I keep some kind of balance in my life.  I need to focus on taking on, only the cares of today and let the cares of tomorrow come as they may.

By doing so, I can direct my attention to the task at hand and leave the rest to God and His timing.  I need to learn to live in the present and to allow the present to fulfill my life.  It is in this way that I am able to stayed focused and keep my life in balance (Peacefully)

Have I told you lately how happy I am that you are my friends?

  1. Yes, Shug, you do have company. I'm the one seated next to you on that roller coaster with screaming with her eyes covered.

I, too, am trying to learn the lesson of peace, be still.

As the saying goes, "I'm not what I ought to be; I'm not what I'm gonna be, but praise the LORD, I'm not what I was."

  3. I think you have lots of company on that roller coaster. You just write about it in a better fashion than the rest of us. This is my first visit to your blog, so I took a bit of extra time to browse through your earlier posts. I'm so glad I did that. You've created a great spot for your readers to visit and I really enjoy the time I spent here. I'll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

  4. I love the saying that Debbie shared here. How true!

I can tell by the way you express yourself on your blog that you are a very giving person. It's good to be giving and supportive of others, but also important to take time for yourself. I learned a long time ago to politely say 'No' when I knew that saying yes might cause stress or worse, resentment.

Praying you find that balance and peace.

  5. I need balance and peace in my life, too. I don't do stress very well. It's easier to achieve now that I'm not working and if I don't get too many projects going at once. I'm getting really good at saying "no".

About your last post and commenting. I'm having a hard time keeping up with commenting too. I have my blog list set up where the most recent posts are at the top of the list. It's easier to keep track of those I haven't seen and commented on. I'm sure I still miss one now and then. Right now I'm trying to get caught up with commenting and I should be cleaning house!

    Have a good weekend.

  7. You are ME, Shug!!! We are responsible for helping so many people, and on so many councils and things that it has taken over our life at times. We rarely have a free day. But where is the balance? I don't know. We are doing it for God, you do whatever you can. And it is my life and a total joy!!! But there are times that I sacrifice my health and well being. All I can do is pray and ask God to show me what he wants. To bring me what he wants me to do, and let me know what not to. He knows better than I do, and I couldn't do any of this without Him!!!

  8. I understand. I am a people pleaser as well, and that can lead to doing things which I really would rather not do,but I'm pleasing others. Guess I am still a work in progress.

  9. Shug, you are not alone... here is a prayer that we all settle down, balance out, and enjoy each moment as it comes, giving thanks to the Lord for the opportunities we have... blessings ~ tanna

  10. I think all of us do this to ourselves from time to time.

I work really hard on trying not to anticpate what might occur but what IS going on currently. This is different than planning ahead,
I know at work we are always watching and waiting what may take place but I have learned to just wait and see what happens. It has lessened the stress a bit.

Live in the moment because things change fast.

  11. Hi Shug!

Oh.yes.I.do.that!! It's so hard to say no sometimes, but I don't think that the Lord expects us to do more than we are capable of doing. Sometimes asking for help with all of those things, not only blesses us, but those who help us! Personally, I need all the blessings I can get! Wish I was there to lighten your load sweet friend - so thankful for your friendship too.... :0)

Hope you are recovering well from your surgery!

    Big Hugs,
    Barb
