Signs of Fall...??

I'm ready for FALL.....

Does the season of Fall really come in August?

It's beginning to look this way around here.....Leaves are falling and  the foliage is already turning colors.....Not from the cooler weather that usually goes along with the changing of the seasons.

NO....it's due to the HOT temperatures and this enormous drought that we are experiencing....

No amount of water seems to do the trick when our temps are soaring above the hundred mark...The heat index is so high and the water just evaporates almost as fast as it touches the ground....

Thank goodness, these babies are able to take the heat.....

I'm thinking that if I had purchased more of the metal flowers, I could have saved a lot of money.....the metal flowers were pretty cheap and they do not require water!!

My lantana is about the only thing still blooming.

It is so easy to neglect the big trees, but during a drought like this, they require water as well....I have the soaker hose dripping on this big 30 foot tree right now.

This sign is primarily in the shade, but it too has faded due to the heat.

I suppose it does age the sign a bit......antique looking don't you think?

The signs of Fall are really here....Hopefully soon, we will get the cooler weather that goes along with this gorgeous season.....

Stay cool and enjoy your day....

  2. Yes, Shug, I have been thinking the same thing this week!! It really does look like fall! The leaves are all yellow and orange, I wonder if this will affect how pretty the trees get when it really is fall? I love those metal flowers, I would buy some if I could find them around here. How about a post just showing them off so I can see more?

  7. I noticed the other day so many red oak leaves on the ground as if it were fall. I'm sure you're right, it's just the horrible heat. I also took note that it's getting dark a little earlier in the evening, so yay!, it's coming soon!

  10. Oh how I remember drought. We had a horrible one one year --spring/summer and fall... It went on and on and on... We watered until we turned blue!!!! It' didn't help. Even the big shade trees were drooping... So sad to see this happen... My prayers are with you all.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  12. I can relate to this so much! We have been looking at orange pines all summer because of the drought. I don't think I've ever seen grown trees die in the ground before. I have thought a hundred times that it looked like fall in the middle of summer.
