It's just the way I Roll....

What made me think I could do it?  I have no clue as to what I was thinking.   I tried, but there is no way....no way that I can
give up my RED!

I do not know what came over me.......I removed all the RED
from my kitchen....I even went as far as to add lime green with all the black....

and I didn't stop there.....I took out all of the red in our family room....

I had green here and green there, and green everywhere....green plates, dishes, throw pillows, birds, picture frames, candles, throw rugs, and even a green lamp shade....

What have I done? .... as far back as I can remember, I have always decorated with RED...so why on earth did I decide to throw it out? Why did  I just toss it to the wind?

I am now starting to get the Blues about this decision.....the green has got to go and I have to have my Red back....

Don't get me wrong....  I'm not one of those Feng Shui people...I don't believe that it is necessary to have touches of red in every room in order for my life to flow .

But.....Red does make me happy....

I like everything about the color Red....

Maybe, throwing out the red for a period of time and adding the green was something that I had to do in order to re-discover my love for warm colors....You just can not beat warm FALL Colors.....

I really did not know that Sam ever noticed the decorative items in our home, but this past evening, he asked me why I had taken things off of the mantel....dare I tell him that I'm getting ready to replace it all with items of color that warms my heart?

What do you think.....should I go this red???

Our home has never looked so bare....I really think the blahs and the blues of missing my red is really working on my mind....After all, Red is an emotional color!

Red is the warmest of all colors and it symbolizes confidence, energy and vitality.....I think it makes a bold statement, so I guess I will just have to use my imagination and get myself re-energized!

Could it be......Feng Shui????    Nope....I'm just joking around!  It's just the way I roll.....

Warm hugs to all of you.....

Be Careful Litte Mouth What You Say...

Did you know that what a person says, speaks volumes about
the character of that person?

Character......traits that mark a person

We should all have that desire to be a winner in life and having a Positive Character and being a winner go hand in hand.
Great positive traits would be those of honesty, having integrity, being loyal, showing enthusiasm, and being free of criticism.

On the other hand, if we are not careful, we will allow the character traits of Jealousy, Envy, Resentment, and Covetousness to sneak upon us.  These traits have a way of controlling us and they bring us down.....

Those who slander and speak with jealous tongues are mentioned to be amongst those that hate God and those that invent ways of doing evil things...(Romans 1:30)

Words hurt badly and when they are spoken by our so called friends, they can hurt even worse. We all need to guard our hearts in order that we may guard our mouths.....or is it the other way around....Guard our mouths in order to guard our hearts?

TROUBLEMAKER = one who gossips or criticizes others!

** Oh Be Careful little mouth what you say **

It is most important that we measure the words that we speak.....

                             Matthew 12:37 reads....

For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned

Strife, Jealousy, Anger, Slander, and Gossip....

There is NO PLACE for these words in the life of a Christian....

We must be on guard....We must be careful of what we speak....Other's are listening and it can define our CHARACTER!

Sweet Blessings and Hugs...

This is our Crazy,Crazy daughter.....Shan
We call her "Gaitorbait"

And this is the other Crazy Daughter....Trista
We call this one "TD"

Her niece an nephews call her....."TT" ?????
(we have had some strange looks from people, especially when we are in
the middle of the mall, and the kids say "Hey TT...can we go potty?"

She is really showing out.......

Glasses???   Where did these come from?

Can I play too??

Guess she thinks she won??

No....I'm not desperate for something to blog about....
I just thought these photos were funny and crazy....
I actually wanted you to see what life is like around this place!

If you haven't guessed yet, this is a Tutu....Blue, white and gold tutu for a little girl....
Trista just knew that Tori would love it, and would want to wear it this past Friday night to the Football game.....NEGATIVE...

Tori, who is now 10 years old.......said:  "NO.... and NO-way am I wearing this thing!  What were you thinking?"

We had some good laughs and we certainly had some fun!

I was reading through one of my journals the other day, and I came across these notes.
Would love to share them with all of you.....

Living for God.....

Clearing the Pathway....we need to clear our daily paths of sin, bad habits, bad attitudes, and
those things that draw us to worldly living....

Clear the Path of Strong Desires......We need to learn to be submissive to God.  We need to seek God daily, listen to Him, and live by his Godly ways....Exercise Patience, wait until we know it is God's direction.......

Be Alert to Pressure.....External pressures from people that may not know God.
Internal pressures such as fear and anxiety. Or, from the way we are brought up. People giving us negative thoughts, such as telling us we will never amount to anything.
Rejection pressure coming from others that we are longing
 to be like..

Persist in Prayer.....
We need to pray without ceasing....God is sifting our request slowly as we pray.  We need to recognize this.  As we pray, God will give us direction and answers if we can learn to listen.

We need to REST in GOD'S PROMISES....
Get into the word of God...We need to learn to think the way God thinks....We need to KNOW what the word of God says, and then we need to rest upon His promises.

We need to wait for The Peace.

We need to get on our face before the Lord..We need to wait for the Lord as we seek harmony and Peace.

Hope your day is filled with happiness.....

Yoo Hoo.....

Yoo Hoo....It's rise and shine time!

Another trip to Big-D for me today.....Left my car up there last weekend (another story for another time) so, I have to go pick it up today.....

All week long, I drove the big truck every where I went, and let me tell you, it is a whole lot harder to maneuver around, than my car.....Thankfully there was no parallel parking needed this week!

                               ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well....I'm sad to report that the Brownsboro Bears did not win their football game last night.  They did not have the highest score at the end, but in my opinion, they really were big winners!

Why....because they worked hard and they supported one another to the end!  It was amazing to see the spirit and fire that each football player possessed, along with the student body and fans.

I for one, was highly impressed with athletic director and the staff of coaches....I have never seen this done before, but prior to the game, our coaches invited the other team to join our boys in the middle of the field for a moment of silence..

How amazing it was to see these guys and their coaches, surrounding each other as they kneeled in unity.... This my friends is what I call WONDERFUL!

Let the Son shine in your heart today my friends.

Working Nine to Five....

Happy Friday morning to each of you....I am so thankful that our lives have been weaved together through this thing we call blogging.....

I guess I should have told you that we love to celebrate birthdays!  I promise this is the last you will have to hear about mine....at least for this year..   My lovely family took me to
"Bruno's" pizza and I loved it.  My third set of kids, (our pastor and his lovely family) came and celebated with us....

I can't believe it....I blew out all ?? candles in one breath!

Tons of Fun!!

~ * ~ * ~ * ~

I have been one busy lady this week...
Kinda like working nine to five.....

I continued working on my list ....you know, the one that I was suppose to be doing at the beginning of the summer.

I emptied my store room...the one that is right here inside of the house.  This meant that organization was about to take place.....Sam went and purchased me some super, extra sturdy shelving for this room......Woo Hoo, everything will have it's own place!

I seperated everything and labeled it all.....all of my seasonal decorations have their own spot....Not only that, but I now have special boxes for each holiday or event.

Why have I waited so long to do this?

Going through all the Fall stuff, made me want to get it out and re-decorate my house....Like right then!

(Borrowed)

I then had to remind myself that I have to wait until after
Labor Day....

I then cleaned and re-arranged the big cabinets in our family room......I sorted through hundreds of books, dishes, videos, and numerous other items that I have accumulated these past few years.

I now feel great.....a few aches here and there, but nothing that a heating pad or ice pack won't cure.....

Geez.....I love having our home in order.

Hugs, hugs, and more hugs....

Friendly... Surprises

Through love, through friendship, a heart is Blessed!

I have so many precious friends who warm my heart daily....Here is a big, squeezing hug that goes out to each of you....thanks for your sweet, sweet birthday wishes...

The Best of the Best.......These are dear friends that always bring me lots of sunshine....Our friendship together seems to boast a lot of the same qualities...such as....we are all Christians.  We are all crazy, down to earth, fun loving, antique hunting friends.  The best part of our friendship is that we are always there to support each other or to lean upon each other, if at any time our own strength becomes weak....

I love it that God has blessed me with so many wonderful friends.  After all, friendship is a gift that truly goes beyond what we could possibly dream of....

Speaking of gifts.....I was super surprised yesterday!  My kids gave me a KINDLE!  I know that I am going to absolutely LOVE IT!
My very first book is going to be one that our church ladies are reading....I plan to get the information today and get it loaded on my sweet new gift......Have I mentioned lately that life is GOOD?

My sweetie gave me an awesome gift as well....A TRIP to BRANSON  to see the musical ..... NOAH.  I am so excited about this!!  Just can't wait!

Just because your birthday falls on a Wednesday, doesn't mean that you get to skip church and have a birthday dinner OUT....
So.....guess what this means for me???   I am going to get to celebrate my birthday again tonight!!  Woo Hoo....Hurray!

I have all day to decide where I want to go and what kind of food I want to eat......

Today is a great day to make a new friend....Just open up that kindred spirit within you and I know you will be blessed!

Sweet Hugs from me.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!! ------------- Sew Little

MOM... you've been hacked!!! I wanted everyone to know that today is precious Shug's birthday!!!!!!! She is the most wonderful mother, grandmother, friend that anyone could have. I am so proud to have the example of a christian woman such as her. She is the stronghold of this family, the anchor for all in need and the shoulder for her girls to lean on! We LOVE you sooo much, MOM and are so thankful for you.
Shanda

Good Morning....Hope all my friends on the East Coast are safe and that you had NO damages caused by the earthquake!

I think August 24th is a Wonderful day!

(SEW)...I think I'll just enjoy this day to the fullest!!

Sewing...this is one thing that I am not very talented at...I would love to be able to sew, but I think it requires a special kind of patience that I just don't have....

I do know some of the basics of sewing, but that is about it...

This past weekend, Shanda stopped by and needed to use my sewing basket...A button had popped off of a pair of shorts, so she wanted to sew it on...She wanted to learn to sew a button on....

This is one thing that I do know how to do...  (Sew), I got the needle and thread out, and then started teaching her sewing 101.

Sure made me feel good...the fact that I taught my daughter how to sew a button on a pair of shorts!

It took me FOREVER to thread the needle...(man, those little eyes on the needles are a whole lot smaller than what I remember them being)

I was very proud of her...For one, she took the initiative to do this on her own, without taking the shorts to an alterations shop...AND...she did a A+ job at sewing the button on...

Good Job Shan!

Have a wonderful day....I know I plan to...

Sugar Shack....

The Sugar Shack is back in business...

It opened bright and early yesterday morning, for the first day of school........

The first day of school is always so busy and everyone is in such a big rush.  For several days, I had been  thinking of what I could do to simplify matters in order to get my kids all fed, out the door,
and off to start a brand new school year.

Then it came to me.....

Brown Bag Breakfast.....

This would be A "Special" for Shug's Sugar Shack on the first day of school...

My kids love Pigs.....how easy and how fun?

Of course.....I had to have a "Zoo Pals" plate for Mylee.  I chose the pig to go with the "Pigs!"

My crew was ecstatic about their "Brown Bag Breakfast."  They actually thought it was a neat idea and it made them feel very special to have their own bag!

Each of them had pigs and a box of apple juice to start their day...

My Family loves the "Sugar Shack"....
They say it's the best food in town!

and It makes me happy to know that all my kids have a good warm breakfast before starting their day....

   ~ ~ ~ ~

The whole bunch was exhausted after their first day back....I just know that today will be GREAT!

Whatever comes your way today, SMILE and be
THANKFUL....

Hugs, from the bottom of my heart....

Mr. Munchie....Have You Met Him Yet?

I know, I know....this is not a topic that any of us really enjoy...

But, somebody has to talk about it!

~ ~ ~

Do you know Mr. Munchie?  Have you me him yet??

He seems to drop by our place on a regular basis!

We never make it to the AFTER part of a diet!

I can assure you, if I even start to mention the word....

Shhhhh, I have to be real quite now.....the word   (Diet)......

here he comes running....always butting into my business!

Honestly speaking here, every single time that Sam and I start some kind of diet, Mr. Munchie steps in and shows his ugly face.    We can start a diet on Monday and by Wednesday, he is tapping us on the shoulder saying....  (In a very deep voice)  "YOU NEED SOME ICE CREAM"......"YOU NEED TO GO EAT SOME GOOD OL' MEXICAN FOOD"....."YOU can EAT THAT CANDY BAR, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A DIET COKE WITH IT."

Does this ever happen to any of you??

Oh Me....I think I need to send Mr. Munchie over to visit some of my friends..

I thought this picture was cute....I really would not wish fat upon any of my friends....but  Hmmmm this might be a good thought for the enemies!!  OK..Just kidding, I don't really have any enemies that I know of!

I really do know how to get rid of him (Mr Munchie)....it's just a matter of doing it I suppose!!  If you don't want him stopping by to visit you, then keep your doors shut and your windows sealed...cause once again, I'm fixing to kick him out to the curb.....

Live happy and be Blessed

Praise the Lord, WE GOT RAIN!

Yes...last night, just out of the blue....it rained!

It wasn't a slow soaking rain, but it was rain....

                                                        unknown.

I want you to know that.......

There is truly an inexpressible joy for me to open this day to whatever God places in front of me.  Hope floods my heart with gladness as I reflect upon the canopy of Blessings that will be mine today....

A Special Place....GKTW

I just received my "Give Kids The World" miracles and memories newsletter.  I look forward to receiving this each quarter....

Give Kids the World is a wonderful place.  It is located in Orlando Florida and they have welcomed more than 105,000 children with life threatening diseases and their families to a cost free fantasy vacation...

The founders work with  the  "Make a Wish Foundation" in order to provide a place for children to stay while they watch  their make a wish dream come true....

A couple of years ago, Tucker received his "Make a Wish" trip and the family traveled to Orlando to visit the "Magic Kingdom."  They too were guest of Give Kids the World...

For several weeks prior to the trip, I had been telling Tucker that I was NOT going to let him travel on this trip without ME..
I threatened to pack myself in his suitcase and ride in the luggage dept. of the airplane all the way to Florida...

Little did I know that I would be making this trip to Florida for his "Make a Wish" trip.   Just two days after Tucker and his family arrived at GKTW, he started running fever and had to be hospitalized.  The doctors were very concerned and their diagnosis was not one that we all wanted to hear...

Needless to say, I was on the next flight to Orlando.....I too was able to stay at GKTW and I might say that there was a boundless  amount of generosity given to our family...

Praise the Lord, the diagnosis was incorrect and even thoughTucker's blood counts had dropped to a dangerous low, it was discovered that this was caused by medications...Within a couple of days, Tucker was released from the hospital and he was able to continue with his trip.... He was very weak, but he was a trooper by making the best of this situation....

As you can see in the picture above, Tucker has a pillow with him...The children who stay at GKTW are able to make their very own wish pillow that is filled with HOPE and DREAMS....

The Sewing Angels are those that are responsible for stitching the magical pillow cases.....approximately 24,000 every year.
They have a goal of completing 600 pillow cases each month.

I know there are a lot of sewing pros out there, and if you are interested in becoming a Sewing Angel for GKTW, please feel free to email    PhilipT@gktw.org

This village is a wonderful place and it is an amazing gift for each of these children.

They offer a journey of love, that brings hope and inspiration to the children and their families...

Give Kids The World is making a difference!!

Blessings,

shug ~
