My Exact Words!

"You are kidding me, Aren't you?"   Those were my exact words yesterday...

Seems that my cell phone has had a mind of it's own lately and the things that were happening yesterday was what a I would call "The straw that broke the camel's back."  Maybe that should be Straw's!

I can't tell you how many times in the past few weeks that the crazy thing has just crashed and I would lose everything....{even some notes that I really need right now}

If I sent a text or email, I would have to wait about 15 seconds after each word before it would appear.  And then..........if I sent a message, it would not send the correct message....I was so embarrassed..IT {The Phone} sent messages to some people yesterday, using words that I would never say....These people were like WHAT!?

So...here I go, over to the phone company...I decided that I was tired of those fancy phones and I was just going to get a simple flip phone.  I just wanted to be able to make calls and text....I also decided to get myself an IPad.

Picked out my phone, got everything changed, drove home, made one call to Sam and all I could hear were the echo's of my own voice...

Got back in the car....took the phone and IPad back and was going to pick out a different phone....{The Droid X}

The representative that helped me said:  "We have to charge you $150.00 restocking fee!"  Oh yes, you should have seen my face at that point..

I was very proud of myself....I stood my ground...I said: "You are kidding me, aren't you?"  Guess what?
They were not kidding....At that point, I could feel myself getting excited  {in a way that wasn't going to be good.}  I just said:  "NO way...this isn't a car that I just purchased and this phone and IPad did not lose it's value the moment I walked out your doors!"

To make this lengthy story short....I will tell you that I did not pay for restocking fee and I came out smelling like a fresh Spring Rose!!

PERSISTENCE!!

And, sometimes we just have to stand up and say NO!!

Blessings,
Shug

  3. You got an iPAD, oh WOW!!! I have been wanting one!! Please keep me updated and tell me what you like about it and what you don't!! Do you have to buy an app for each thing you do? Is any of it free? So did you get the Droid phone? Is that first white phone your old one? I am so glad that you gave them a hard time, that is outrageous!! Best Buy have a restocking fee that is something like 10% or 15%, but finally so many people complained that they dropped it and don't have it anymore.

  5. Oh My... Don't we ALL go through crap like that... BUT--we need to stand up for ourselves. Not long ago, we were exchanging our MiFi at Verizon.. They told us that we had to go through the awful step of calling Customer Support Service FIRST... We REFUSED to do that ---so we left with the new MiFi... We all just have to stand up to those companies at times.

    Hope you love your iPad... George has got one and absolutely loves it... I am still using a laptop for my 'extra' (travel) computer...

    I just have a regular LG phone. I like to text also ---so I have one that flips sideways for a bigger keyboard. LOVE it. Don't want a Droid or iPhone --since I wouldn't use it for other things except phone and text.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. Hi shug!

    Good for you!!!!! I get so tired of being ripped off by, "re-stocking fees" and the like, anything to make it difficult for the consumer! I think we all need to stand up and speak up for what we think is right! Hope you got exactly what you wanted!

    Hugs,
    Barb

  7. Good for you! I think we've been bullied far too long when the problem lies with the service or the product. I wish they were as happy to please us as they were to sell it to us. Don't they know that return business is where the money is? I've had two jobs in my life (ok, plus a few more) hairdresser and real estate agent. I was dependent on satisfied customers and return business to make my living. If I'd treated people like I often get treated, I'd be poor.
    I'm having windows installed in a week. (A week late due to persistent cancellations on their part) and I intend to get it done MY WAY for a change.
