Stick With It and You Will Win....

Blogging, Blogs, the world of friendships through technology....what is it really all about??

I will admit that when I first started blogging, I had two main agendas....I wanted to be able to express my personal thoughts and document daily events in my life...another was to perhaps earn a little extra cash for this SAHM {SAHW} stay at home wife!

I soon found myself connecting with people from all over the country....People that share the same interest as myself.  Good Christian people that love the Lord as I do.

Blogging has given me a sense of well being and has increased my level of thinking to a much higher standard...I guess you could say it has become a passionate hobby of mine and it has definitely brought me out of my shy little turtle shell.

I am amazed at how many bloggers there are out there.  I thoroughly enjoy the community of friends that I visit with each day....and now,  this brings me to another thought,  COMMENTS....

Many of my friends have 20, 30, 40 and sometimes 50 comments a day from their readers...Wow, I think this is great and what a sense of encouragement they must feel.  Is it possible for me to ever get to that point?

This gets my mind to clicking in it's fast mode......Is it about the Topic?  Is it about the number of followers? Could it be the lay-out of a blog? Perhaps the photography is appealing.  Is it the advertising?  Or, can one's true personality really shine through the lines of communication?

I then have to ask myself....{Am I writing this blog because I want to see how many comments I can get or is it about sharing from my heart}....I realize that the really important thing is being myself and writing from my own heart.

After all, it's just too difficult for me to stick to one interest.  I love so many things....

Writing, photography, sharing about family and friends, cooking, crafting, visiting, Drinking coffee with blogging friends, Sharing God with all those that I come in contact with.....

SO..............My question of the day would have to be....

What is it that truly draws a person to your blog ??

For me,  I love meeting new people...I love reading their blogs. I want to know what their interest are.  {It's always a good thing to gain wisdom from others}  And I love to read comments from readers because it gives me some insight when they express their opinion on any given topic.

Today ...I want to take the time to say "Thank You" to all my followers...I appreciate your comments and I love that you take enough time out of your busy day to drop by and visit my blog....Hugs to each of you!

Shug Sez.....

Strive for excellence, stick with it, and you will win!

  1. Such an interesting topic that I know all of us could talk aboout endlessly! One thing that draws me to a blog is variety, like you have. I love to go into someone's blog and never know what I will find, a constant surprise. I do not like very long texts just because I have probably over 100 blogs to visit and I don't have the time to read for five minutes or longer. I try to edit mine as short as I can and when I post a video, I make sure it's not much longer than two minutes. Your blog has everything I like, it is short and to the point, it does not ramble. It is always something different, good pictures, and beauty, I love the cheerful pink and the cute header. You have nothing to worry about and I'd advise you not to change. It doesn't get much better than this. I think it is such a common thing to start a blog for very good reasons, then to see other people's comments, and start to want more, and be full of doubt, we've all done it! Just remember your main reason for blogging in the first place, it is not about the comments, it's about what is in your heart and your writing. What you want to convey and how well you do it, and show it in your photos. I will ask how long you have been blogging? When we all start, it takes a long time to build up followers. I had under a half dozen for a long time. One way to get more followers is to join some of the memes that are out there. I see you have a lot of followers, though. I LOVE your blog, and I have seen hundreds!! Yours is one of the best!

  2. Shug,

I have wondered these things myself....HOW do people get 40, 50 comments? Alot of those I have come to realize tend to be photography blogs....not sure why they pull in so many comments but they do.

I tend to find other blogs and if I establsh a relationship with them I am loyal to follow and comment. Yours has been such a blessing to find and I love your posts, your pics and your sweet heart!

  3. This is a great post and full of true words about blogging. I went into it with a desire to share my photograph (and develop that hobby) and document some of my daily life for my parents to enjoy, as they live far away. It has become so much more than that. I love sharing my photograph for sure, but have "met" such great and encouraging people along the way. Not to mention some great cooks who share recipes ;)

  4. I went months with only one or two comments from people I actually knew. I could not of ever imagined gettin' the comments I do today.

I did find that once a week to ten days is all I was able to handle postin outta my schedule. Ya leave somethin' up that long I found the comments grew naturally.

I just enjoy the writing and makin' folks smile and maybe while they are there they'll get a little upliftin' in their day. :o)

God bless ya'll and happy bloggin'!!!!

So, I am thinking that if you just write and post about things that interest YOU...you will please everyone else.:))

  8. Oops! Lost my comment!
I wanted to thank you for stopping by for a visit. I have been blogging for two years now..three this coming December 11th.

To answer your question as to what draws a person to your blog, I think it can be a combination of things.
First for me I have to find I have something in common with them..some interest that we share.
We have to admire the way they do things, their interests, their style of writing IF they write a lot..just all sorts of things.
I have found bloggers that perhaps only share a single interest with me..but if during the time I find my self going back to peek into their world..I get to know them...as a person and really like them, then I am hooked.
Problem. There are so many and you cannot do justice to everyone. I have known some who have voiced hurt feelings that a blogging friend does not visit as often as they think they should...and that is sad. But..it happens.
You simple cannot visit everyone every day..
If you get around once a week..you are doing good..so I miss many posts...and sometimes important events in that persons life.
It can sometimes be a little sad...but most of us understand. Completely. :)
That's my story and I'ma stickin' to it! :)
    Hope your day went great!

  9. Hi Shug, I have really been lucky when it comes to blogging. I am one who gets alot of comments... Comments are what are important to me... Followers come and go --and I have many followers who never comment. I don't even know them ---so followers don't even matter much to me.

I get all of my comments via email --and keep them in a folder. Those are the people "I" follow --the ones who come regularly to my blog. I try to keep my follower's list to less than 100 since I just don't have time to go to more blogs each day. (AND--that is really too many! Takes up alot of time.)

The people who come to my blog once a week or so are people whom I don't follow. However, I will go to their blog IF they come to mine.

I think that most people like variety. They like a positive blog. They like a combo of photos and words.. I like blogs where I know someone's name and where they are from. I guess I just like the personal blogs the best--ones which talk about themselves, their lives and their families.

I love to email my 'peeps'.... Email brings the relationship even more personal--which is what I want. I have made lots of friends through blogging --and that is important to me... YOU are one of my new friends... Thanks be to God.
    Hugs,
    Betsy
