The Eagle has Landed

Just this past week I wrote about the slang language of kids these days....I talked about Tyler and how I could not understand what he was telling me.  Seems I was not up to date on this thing they call the ENGLISH SLANGUAGE....

Yesterday, I learned that Tori discovered a new slang and that she is already (at the age of 8) getting into the groove.   EAGLE...this is the word she learned.  Most of us would say....soooo!  Everyone knows what a Eagle is....A BIRD!  A broad winged bird..

Tori was so enthusuastic when she shouted "The Eagle Has Landed".  One would think that she had been studying about Birds in school...    She quickly let me know that what she meant was it's ************* PAY DAY! *************

Sure I have heard of that before...older people use that slang!
Evidently the teachers at school were paid this past week and SHE must have HEARD  them make that statement.  Do kids always pick up on what they are suppose to be learning?  Perhaps we need to start adding slang phrases to the TAKS test....If so, they probably would ace the test and all  would be commended!

Movie Experience

This is that time of year when the kids are so active...To miss one of their games is out of the question..When you have 5 out of the 6 six grandchildren playing basketball and baseball, it doesn't leave much time for anything else...I'm not complaining,  it is my choice to go to all these games.  Watching them play in their sports is a lot of fun and to see their faces when they notice I am there is worth everything!

I said all of that to say that Sam and I were able to catch a movie last night.  This is something we love to do, but finding the time is very difficult.  Ok, so we go to see "Crazy Heart" and are very excited to see this movie..  The top row is where we like to sit.  We make our way up the seats and are totally enjoying our popcorn and coke!  There are four seats on the other side of me, and several other seats that were empty  in the theater.  It's just this thing I have about me, but I prefer not to have anyone sitting right next to me, it makes me feel crowded.  The movie is suppose to start at 6:40.  AT 7:10, lights are out and it is time for the movie...Yea, the seat right next to me was still empty.

Bless my heart, at the last minute in comes four people.  Three women and one man.  As you would know it,  they chose the seats on the top row, right next to me..Now who do you think sat in the seat that connected with mine...Yes, it was HIM.

I said to myself :  It is OK...I can do this...Just relax..
Why oh why does it always have to be someone that has strange habits.  I endured the extremely loud crunching of his popcorn as well as listening to him constantly blowing his nose.  Then came the picking of his teeth and to make matters worse his arm completely took over the arm rest and part of my seat.

About half way through the movie, I kept noticing Sam looking at me..
When we got in the truck to come home after the movie, I ask him why he kept looking at me...He said he thought he could hear me breathing loud.  No, it wasn't me!  It was the man...
He was snorting or making some weird sound all through the movie...

The movie was good and I loved having this special time with Sam.  I can not say that the experience with the partner next to me was very good, but I did survive.  I'm thinking we will just stick to watching the grandchildren play ball and when I do go back to the movie, I think I will purchase an extra ticket so I can reserve the seat next to me.  This will make my movie experience much more pleasurable!

Ready for Some Quick Shopping

I am almost positive that I am not the only woman whose husband is not a true shopper...

I had been planning all week to go shopping today (Friday) because there are a couple of baby showers this weekend that I needed to buy for.  I also wanted to see if I could find some jeans for myself.  Yesterday, Sam called and suggested that I go to town last night because it was going to be raining today.  After giving it some thought, I decided that perhaps that would be best.

I sent him a text to see if he was going to go with me.  Sam's response was did I want him too.  You never know with that response if he is saying "Yes, I want to go with you, or I will go if you want me to".  Since he really does not like for me to go by myself at night, I took it as if he was saying...yes, I want to go with you....

We leave around 5:30 and my first stop was the mall to find my jeans.  Sam decides to go out into the middle of the mall and wait while I shop.  I found some cute jeans and head to the fitting room to try them on.  Just as I am in the middle of changing, my phone beeps with a text.  Here I go trying to hold up the pants and grab the phone at the same time....It was Sam....text reads:  Checking on you.  I am smart enough to know that what the text was really saying was:  "How much do you like?"..........I quickly respond "almost finished"....Everyone knows the procedure, get what you think you like and get checked out.  That is exactly what I did.  I thought I better text him and let him know I am on my way down.
Before I even pressed the send button he was there to meet me...

Second stop was Target.....This time he doesn't even get out!  Lets me out at the door...  I can't just go into Target and grab something and come right out....I love to shop in that store.  I make my way to get the items I need and I am thinking (ok, I have enough time to look at this and that).  Checking my watch, I decided I had better go on and check out.
Wouldn't you know it.....I would pick the checker that moves like a snail....So slow!  As I get back into the truck, I can feel Sam wanting to say...."I should have stayed home."

I guess it paid off for me to go to the car show with him on Sunday!  ...Perhaps that is the reason he just smiled and didn't complain.

I do appreciate him going with me.  There is nothing like getting to be dropped off and picked up at the door.  Saves the time of looking for a parking spot and having to walk in the cold when you shop...Total time we were gone......2 hours and 15 min!  That is some quick shopping...

Blessed Housewife

I absolutely love my job! What is my title?  I am a HOUSEWIFE!
The definition of a housewife is: a married woman who manages her own household as this is her principle job.

Some would say that this is a job that has no importance.  That belief would be far from the truth.  As a housewife, my day is filled with an enormous amount of importance.  I would ask, what is more important than taking care of family...Making sure their needs are met.  Cooking to make sure they eat healthy, washing clothes to make sure they have clean clothes to wear, clipping coupons for groceries in order to save money, taking kids to the doctor so they can be well, organizing appointments, making a house a home....The list of responsibilities is endless!

Just this morning within a two hour span, I have fixed breakfast for twelve people.  Sausage, pancakes, biscuits.....(It is important to make sure they have the nutrition to start their day...)
I have washed a load of clothes and dryed that same load.  I have been a nurse this morning tending to the needs of a grandson. I have bathed Mylee and she is dressed.  My kitchen is clean and I have taken out the trash.  Baked Potatoes are in the oven for Carson and Trey to have for lunch.

I realize that this is not a job that appears to be exciting, but for me it is the perfect occupation!  I believe that whatever it is you choose to do in life you need to do it to the best of your ability.  Being a HOUSEWIFE is exactly what I want to do....I don't just want to be a housewife, I want to be the BEST!

Yes, the BEST wife, the BEST mother, the BEST grandmother, the BEST daughter, the BEST manager of our home.....A home that is filled with Love.   What does it pay you might ask?  More than I could ever ask for........I AM BLESSED!

Oh What A Night!

Just Yesterday, I was glancing at a travel magazine and I saw a article on a Bed and Breakfast....It brought back a memory that Sam and I still laugh at today....

Several years ago Shanda and Tom gave us a gift certificate to stay at a nice Bed and Breakfast.  We had never stayed at one before, so we really did not know what to expect.  We were excited about getting to experience something that we had never taken the time to do before.  We made our way to the location and found that it was a good distance from town.  It was kinda out in the country.  Sam and I are both busy people...not exactly the kind that really knows how to sit and rest.  But, we were going to give it a try!   After we were checked in, we made our way to the little house we would be camping at for the night.  As we opened the door, the first thing to catch our attention was the bed....Oh yes, that bed!  It was a regular size bed....We have been sleeping in a king size bed for many, many years now.  Sam and I looked at each other as to say, who is going to take the first shift of sleeping.  It was obvious that we both were not going to fit in that bed very comfortably.

Both of us got so excited because in order to eat dinner we were going to have to leave and go into town.  It was dark when we finished dinner so  here we go back to PLACE.  We get our showers and are ready to watch some TV in bed.....Well, the tv won't work!!!!!!!!
Come to find out, in order to watch the tv you had to plug it in and unplug it when you were ready to turn it off.  Oh well, we made it work.  No matter how hard we tried it felt like we would never go off to sleep, but when we finally did........THE ELECTRICITY WENT OUT....Oh yes it did.  No fan, No noise, just silence with the exception of the two of us laughing.........  Finally we fell off to sleep again.

The next morning we wake up at our normal time of 6:00.  No noise to be heard.  Sam decides he is going to make his way to the kitchen to get some coffee.  Now this is Excitment!!  Coffee...
It's still dark outside and he comes in with these two cups of coffee.
We both are so ready to enjoy that early cup....He says "my coffee taste like water".   That is exactly what it was...Hot water.  Evidently, there was NO coffee in the basket when he pressed the power button.

It ended up being a fun experience and the breakfast at 10:30 was very good.  What we were able to take away from this adventure was a lot of laughter and a memory that we will be talking about for years to come.
Will there be another Bed and Breakfast for us?   What do you think?

Just finished a good post and then something happened.....I don't know what, but my computer decided to go home and so I lost everything that I was writing....

I'll start with something else....something like AGE!  I looked this word up in the dictionary and not one single definition was defined as saying grandchildren are smarter than grandparents.....

I was having a conversation with my oldest grandson (Tyler) last night and I discovered real fast that we no longer speak the same language....I have never heard of  the words he was using...They must be teaching a new language class at school.....These were not bad words, just words that were jibilish!  I ask him a question and I actually needed a translator to tell me what he said....He was so amused at me not being able to understand him...I think teenagers kinda like us not knowing exactly what it is that they are saying!

I know it's not AGE, because I consider myself to be pretty young...
Today I have been studying some (slanguage) and  tonight I am going to show him what this grandmother has learned....I'll even bet he is going to think I rock!!

I LOVE COMMENTS.......

Heavy Heart

We left early this morning to take Tucker to Children's in Dallas for his check-up.  It is a long drive, but I am so thankful that we live as close as we do.  It could be much worse...

We are so very Blessed that Tucker is finished with treatment and now just has 2 years of his monthly check-ups to go.  After that it will be once a year...... Each time that we take him for his check-up and I walk into that waiting room filled with sick children, my heart grows heavy.  I  see kids with all different types of cancer, not just leukemia.

I see children that are so weak and frail but yet they have to be there to receive another chemo treatment.  Children that need blood or platlets so they can function without being so sick.  These kids are not complaining.....They are too sick to complain.  They are even too sick to worry about others seeing them without any hair.

I am reminded each time we go that I... have no complaints...
A cold that keeps me awake at night or a aching joint or two is nothing in comparison to what these little ones go through.
My heart is heavy after each visit but that is ok with me....
I consider it a priviledge to be able to hold each one of them in my heart and to be able to pray for their healing.....

Thank you Lord for the compassion of those that give in order to find a cure for cancer....

Texas Is Where You Need To Be!

Activities?  We had a full day of activities yesterday...Attended a little dribblers basketball game for Tori, went to a high-school baseball game and then it was off to watch Carson play on his select baseball team.

The back seat of the truck became a clothes closet.  When we started out the weather was so nice.  Short sleeve and maybe a light jacket.  By mid-day it was short sleeves and the "gypsy" sandels.  I even saw a few faces that the sun had tinted with a little color of pink.  We actually went to one of our favorite sporting stores and bought a shortsleeve outfit for Tori because she was hot!

In just a short time, we were changing into the warm clothes and covering up with blankets.  The wind started blowing and there was a definite Chill in the air.  We all cuddled up together to stay warm.  You just never know what the weather in TEXAS is going to be like with the exception of August and July when you know it is going to be HOT!!  The best way is just to be prepared for any type of weather.

Snow last week, Spring like weather this week, and Snow coming again this next week.......If you like the unpredictable, then TEXAS is where you need to be.....

** Garden troubles!

It's just about time for the garden....  We are certainly not the best gardeners so we are debating as to whether are not it is worth the time..  Sam is in the nursery business....not the nursery business of keeping kids, but he is in the TREE business.  He grows all kinds of trees...Mostly PECAN trees and FRUIT trees.    It is my opinion that he grows the best pecan trees ever!

Now back to the garden.....You would think growing vegetables such as squash, tomatoes, potatoes, and all these good healthy things would be so simple....Last year was almost a disaster....A plant would be beautiful and almost ready to harvest and then the next day the whole plant would be missing.  At first we thought there must be someone coming at night and raiding the garden.  A mystery to us .....Yes.....until we finally figured it out.  Little gophers came up at night and would pull the whole plant down into the ground.

We really enjoy going to the market, so perhaps it would be best if we just let them grow our vegetables for us.  Think we will stick to growing trees!!

Simple Things

I often stop to take a look at the Simple things in life that make me Happy!  I do get excited about the Major experiences in life as well.  However, It is the Small totally unexpected affairs in life that make my Heart pound from overwhelming Joy!  Perhaps it is a forgotten Memory that has just made it's way back into my mind.  Or a special Hug from someone when I least expect it.  A heartfelt Thank You that I know is so Sincere.

Watching my Precious grandchildren as they grow and observing them play with No worries at all.  Our home filled with Laughter and even finding myself waking up so excited to experience the Joy of what the day holds.

The list could go on and on......Happiness is all around us.
Like a promise delivered.  A Kind look from a stranger, or even
a goodnight Kiss.  We need to embrace these things that cross our paths each Day.

I hope that I will always Value how simple life can be and always Cherish the Blessings that come my way.......

Get Ready For The Clean Up Zone!

Do you remember a few weeks ago that I talked about a new diet?  Why is it that when you finally make up your mind to get serious about your health and the foods you are eating, that all of sudden you have all these extra events and they all include food?  You know things like Super Bowl, Valentines, a cold snowy day when all you crave are soups and comfort foods.

I love to cook and I guess my mind sets itself into the cooking mode everytime the word diet comes up.  Is it my subconscious mind telling me that I don't want to give up the foods I like? It would be just as easy to fix the foods that would be healthy for me and help me to lose weight, but my mind focuses on SUGAR!

I am beginning to think that SUGAR controls me.  I have to ask myself this question:  What am I going to do to stop this addiction?
I have decided to go to the "Clean Up Zone".  I am going to clean up my triglycerides, clean up my cholesterol, and deprive my body from that white sweet stuff....I can do this. I can do this for myself and for those that I love!

Hope you have a Blessed Day...............

Stick To The Plan.....

Frustration takes over when I am deep into a project and it is not as easy to accomplish as I thought it would be...

It's as if my mind is dead center in the middle of a battle field.
My confidence level weakens and my brain becomes so foggy..
The hours that I spend trying to accomplish what I picture in my mind becomes grueling and I find myself in a state of mental exhaustion.

I have found that in times like this, I must take a step back from the work that I am doing.  I have to relax and recharge the element part of my thinking.  By doing so, my body has a release of energy.  I usually read a devotion and this always gives me the encourgment I need to stick to my plan, have Faith, and let God lead me..

Snow Day Continued

I decided to go out to the pasture because I had heard the kids were all going there to play in the snow.   Now, I have these two great son-in-laws...(Not so smart #1 and Not so smart #2)  I will let you figure out which is which!!
Now this is how the scenario goes.....
You have a nice new truck, extremely wet ground in the pasture, snow on top of that, Not so Smart #1 and Not so Smart #2....
I know you can guess what I am fixing to say.....Yep!  A perfect situation to get a truck stuck....Thank goodness the tractor is in the shed.  One of them walks up to get the tractor, while the other is getting his brand new rope out of the truck...A bright yellow rope....The concern here was that they didn't want to get the bright yellow rope dirty...Well  Duh,  It is mud and mud is everywhere!
They get the tractor and start to attach the rope from the tractor to the truck...Ok, the one driving the tractor has the hay spear stuck down in the dirt, pushing the dirt at the same time he's trying to pull the truck out.  Wheels are spinning, truck going nowhere.  They stop and look at their options.  Here we go again...Going to pull it backwards...this time the tractor driver has the box blade dragging the ground.  Truck going nowhere....
Our daughter finally calls her dad to tell him they are stuck..He brings a chain (That they could have had from the beginning) and
they get it attached to both tractor and truck...One pull, the truck comes right out...
Truck is out, rope is dirty, Not so smart #1 blames it on Not so smart #2 and Not so smart #2 blames it on Not so smart #1.  What do you think?............
All in all these are two of the greatest guys I know...I could not have asked for better son-in-laws.  I have to give them a lot of credit for the accomplishments they have made in their lives.  They both are very successful in life.  I am very proud of them because they make Christ the center of their home.  They love their families and they love life...What else could a mother-in-law ask for...I have the BEST!!  Thanks for giving me another laugh and for giving me something to Blog about...

Snow Day

I had such a big day yesterday...Snow Day!  This is the first time in a long, long, long time that we have had any accumulation of snow....To start with, you know the neighbor that I was going to get?  Well, I went across the street to his house and
with his wife's help, we were able to lure him out of the house.  She told him someone had fallen and he needed to come see what he could do to help...He stuck his head out the door-way to see and I stepped forward to slam him with one of the biggest snowballs you have ever seen.  To my surprise, there he stood in only his underwear.....I am not sure who ran the fastest or who laughed the most, Me, Him or his wife!!
You just have to know BM, (that doesn't stand for bowel movement, it's my neighbor's initials)  he is something like I can not even describe.  But let me tell....Ms. DM is not all that innocent herself...She loves for us to pick at each other...For Christmas one year, she had him come over and unplug all my lights.  When I turned the switch on, my lights did not work so I started changing the fuses.   I think your beginning to get a picture of my 70 year old neighbors....I do love them......
Now tomorrow I will tell you about the rest of the snow day and how crazy my 2 son-in-laws are...You will not believe what they did.   My giggle box is still turned upside down because of all these people.....

Somebody Tell The Neighbor It's Snowing!!

Can you believe it is snowing?  I love to see it snow and one of my favorite things is to see the beautiful pine trees all laced with the shiney white stuff.....
I also love to see the faces of children who can not wait to get out in it.  Their little hearts are filled with the anticipation of throwing a snowball or two, and then of course wanting to build their own snowman....But, the biggest thing for the school age children is.....
ARE THEY GOING TO CLOSE SCHOOL!

I have this neighbor...you know the one that chased the skunk and is always being mischievous.....  Would you believe he has already been here this morning to hit me with a snowball.  He rings the doorbell (kinda like I wouldn't know it was him because every time it snows he is at my door) and waits just like a kid....The thing is I was standing at my bedroom window watching him...He had that snowball tucked behind him and he was ready for me to step out that door.  I couldn't help but laugh.
I gently knocked on the window and he turned to see me standing there.  I could see such disappointment on his face.

I hope it keeps snowing all day, because I have something big planned for him....I'll keep you posted on what happens....

Hope you all enjoy the snow and this beautiful day!

The Pollard Family

Activate Your Laughter Button

Ever once in a while we just need to sit back and let our laughter button be activated.  I had just the opportunity to do this last night.
Our little six year old grandson (Trey) had a musical play at school.
The title of the play was "Barn Yard Musical".  Trey was a hound dog with the droopy ears....

The kids were so cute and their little costumes were adorable.  There were chickens, turkeys, goats, pigs, cows with utters, horses, cats and of course the dogs!  I felt just like I was at the barn yard with all the howling of the dogs and the cats chasing the mice.

I got so tickled because kids have the cutest way of adding their own little beat to the music. Little feet were going in all directions.   Then you have those who don't exactly pronounce their R's just right.  They add an extra little twist to the wording of the program!  Kinda like wunning instead of running...

These children are Blessed to have a good school and a wonderful music teacher.  She is so good and very talented...

There were a few times that I was singing along with them and I was definetly into the beat.  My feet were tapping right along with them.....  Now let me see.....What could I have been if they had ask me to join the program...I don't think I saw a Mother Hen....I would have been perfect for that part....

Yes, we do need to activate our laughter button more often....I'm glad I did!

Easy and Good, That's How I Roll

Confession is good for the soul, so I will confess that I let Sam cut my hair the other day....Oh yes I did!  He was so nervous and I guess I was too.  The back is what I needed to have cut and since I can not reach it.........I thought who better than him....

I wet my hair and got it all straightened out.  I then sectioned it off and handed him the scissors.... He was very hesitant, but took the scissors in his hand and started cutting...Of course I was directing each cut.  I could hear the scissors cutting inch by inch and my only concern was that he would cut one side much shorter than the other.

So many times I have asked him if he likes my hair short or long and he always replies "I like it how you like it".   I am willing to bet that the next time I ask him this question he will say he likes long hair!

He really did a good job and was especially happy when I told him how much money he saved....

I am thankful for a partner that doesn't take life so serious..Easy and Good is how he rolls.  His saying is "Happy wife, Happy life".
Because of him my life is easy and good!

The Carousel

The carousel, Merry -Go- Round.  I love to sit and watch as those who are approaching the ride eagerly purchase their token.  They are waiting with great anticipation for the thrill of what they are about to experience.

This past Saturday I watched as children climbed on and carefully chose the horse that first caught their attention.  Their faces had a radiant glow.   Then I captured the faces of their parents.  Some were riding with their child and some standing on the side watching to see the joy on their child's face.  I looked again on the faces of the parents and perhaps some grandparents riding.  They had a look on their face as if they were a child again and loving every spin the carousel made.

Then my eyes caught the attention of those children passing by that were longing for the opportunity to see what it was all about.
I could see a sadness in their little faces.  It brought tears to my eyes and a heaviness to my heart.

We are so Blessed to be able to enjoy these little things in life.  The things that bring enormous amounts of pleasure to us as well as those we love.    I hope that I will always take the time to see a Blessing in even the smallest of things that God places in our paths each day....

Enjoy the Blessings of this Day!!

Will Listen for Free

I have noticed that in this country there is always at least one person in a crowd that has a desperate need to share their life with anyone that will listen....

Getting caught in this situation at a Doctor's Office can be extremely difficult.  You might find yourself limited on the excuses you can give to get up and leave.  You just have to sit and pray that the nurse calls your name real soon.

This happened to me not long ago.  I was sitting all by myself in a section that had many other chairs.  I know I must have had some kind of light flashing over my head like "I LISTEN FOR FREE".

I caught a movement out of my eye and here she came.  A lady on a mission making her way to get to that one chair RIGHT NEXT TO ME!

After a somewhat lengthy visit I learned some very interesting news.  She was not at all happy with her son-in-law JD.  Seems JD had a lot of issues and for one thing, he was known to be a cheater.  And........ For those of you that didn't know, IT IS POSSIBLE to have a boil on your butt cheeks.  (Thank goodness I didn't have to see hers).

Lesson Learned:  Act like you have a virus and make several trips to the restroom...And don't ever forget to pack a set of ear plugs.
You just never know when you will need them..

Have a Blessed Day!

Delicious. Delicious

Well, I pulled out the old red slow cooker yesterday.  Most of you

know it as a crock-pot.  I never use the thing, but it does have its

own place in my cabinets.  I can not tell you how many times I

have threatened to get rid of it.   Why? You are probably asking.

Takes up too much space!

I Don't know what got in to me other than the thought of wanting

something to be simple.

I cooked Chicken Sphagetti........  It turned out very good!

Most of the time I cook without a recipe, so I will just tell you

the ingredients I used.

Fajita Chicken
Rotel
Velvetta Cheese
Chicken Broth
Olives
Pimento
Seasoning
Grated Longhorn Cheese

It was DELICIOUS!  This dish was so easy, so quick, and the

clean up was such a breeze.   I think I have  much more respect for

the old red slow cooker, and I am positive that I will keep it

around!   Hope you all have a very Blessed Day!

Big Fight!

Ok, here is a fact..I really do not like wearing panty hose in the first place.  I do realize that sometimes it is necessary to wear the crazy things.  This past Sat. I was getting dressed to attend a funeral of a friend.  I knew that I was going to have to put them on and would be unable to breath for hours.

The thought came to me that the only black pair I had were  support hose...You know, those that support your veins.  As a matter of fact, I usually have to wear these rubber gloves to even get them on.  Gloves?  No where to be found.  I began stretching and pulling inch by inch getting those things pulled up.  Can't tell you how many times I pinched my leg in the process.  Whew, had them up!  Now to continue getting dressed..

Then, the ususal happened...My bladder started wanting attention.
Here I go......Now it's time for the big fight (again, I might add).
By this time I was in a room with different lighting.  Those black hose somehow turned navy blue.  I know you know what I'm talking about here! A pain in the rear; YES.

What a morning! I did make it to the service on time and for those of you who ask......No, I did not wear the navy blue hose...I sported a beautiful pair of black ones in style!

Step by Step

From time to time we are all ask to do something that makes us uncomfortable.  Recently this happened to me and not only was it out of my comfort zone, but I felt inadequate to do the job.
Our Pastor ask me to organize a blood drive for our church.  I agreed, but immediately felt myself saying no, I don't want to do this.
I felt the Lord impressing upon my heart that all I needed to do was obey and He would do the rest.
Our family has experienced first hand the desperate need for people to give blood.  The gift of blood can save a life!  I prayed OK Lord if this is what your are asking me to do then help me, give me the abilities I need to work and make this endeavor a success.
It is amazing how awesome our God is!  The blood drive was successful and when I stop to think about it, this was such a simple task that needed to be done.  I trusted God and He directed me step by step.  Thank you Lord!
I would like to thank those that gave that day, and also would like to encourage all of you to make an effort to give blood for someone today!  We never know when one of our loved ones could be the one in need......

Experienced Reader

Our daughter and her husband recently took their family to a special restaurant for dinner.  The waiter came to the table, introduced himself, and ask to take their drink order.
As he went around taking each of their request, he finally came to our little 8 year old granddaughter, Tori.
She looked at her menu in deep thought and then said, "I'll have a draft beer".  The waiter looked totally surprised. The rest of the family broke out in laughter, realizing that her reading skills had greatly improved and that she could read her menu....I don't think she really new what a draft beer was, but I guess to her it sounded good!!
